I truly believe there is no introduction that can encompass all of who Grace Jones is but here are few things you should know:
- She is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, supermodel, record producer, and actress.
- She is one of the most uninhabited performer you'll ever see.
- She bulldozed many obstacles in order live her life they way she wanted to.
I had my first encounter with Grace Jones at the age of 7-8 years old was via a recording of one of her concerts that my parents played often. In that moment, the image of this beautiful, statuesque, larger than life singer-performer was seared into my mind.
To say she inspires me is an understatement. Each time I hear her songs, see clips of her performance or watch her in a movie, I'm enthralled by how she commands every stage and moment on film.
Reading her memoir I'll Never Write My Memoir coupled with watching her new documentary, Bloodlight and Bami, has not only inspired me but given me new insights into Grace Jones, the Artist and the Woman.
